Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering

The position of lecturer in Industrial Engineering at Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, University of Iceland is open.

Area of ​​work

The work involves research and teaching in industrial engineering. The Industrial Engineering program has just reorganized its undergraduate program in Industrial Engineering with regard to the needs of the business community, including challenges related to the fourth industrial revolution.

The lecturer will also take an active part in supervising the final projects of graduate students, as well as working on the development of studies and teaching in the field and promoting the studies.

Undergraduate teaching is generally in Icelandic and the person in question is expected to be able to teach in Icelandic within three years. The University of Iceland assists foreign employees in learning and mastering the Icelandic language.

Qualification requirements

  • Doctoral degree in industrial engineering or related field
  • Good experience of teaching at undergraduate and graduate level in a university, e.g. á m. of organization and supervision of courses
  • Research activity in the field of study. Experience of participating in foreign research projects is an advantage.
  • Good co-operation skills and agility in human relations
  • Good English skills are a requirement, but the ability to teach Icelandic is an advantage

Application process

When hiring, it will be assumed that the person who gets the job best suits the circumstances and needs of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Computer Science.

  • Report on scientific work and other work they have done

The application must state which of his or her publications, up to eight in number, the applicant considers to be the most important with regard to the work in question. Applicants only send these publications with an application or refer to where they are available in electronic form.

When more than one author submits a work, applicants must state their contribution to the work. Application documents that cannot be submitted electronically must be submitted in duplicate to the School of Science and Innovation at the University of Iceland, Sæmundargata 2, 102 Reykjavík.

The appointment will be for a term of five years in the first instance, with the possibility of indefinite employment after that time, cf. Paragraph 3 Article 31 rules for the University of Iceland no. 569/2009.

Of these, about 140 are graduate students in master's and doctoral studies. The faculty has about 30 teachers.
